Idanha-a-Nova at the Meeting of UNESCO Creative Cities of Music.

Idanha-a-Nova, UNESCO Creative City, in Music, was present at the cluster meeting that took place in Kingston, Jamaica, this February.

Delegates from Adelaide (Australia), Amarante (Portugal), Daegu (South Korea), Glasgow (Scotland), Hamamatsu (Japan), Hannover (Germany), Katowice (Poland), Norrköping (Sweden) and Kingston were also present at this meeting.

The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports of Jamaica, was held from the 15th to 18th of February, with the aim of strengthening ties and strategies among communities classified by UNESCO as Creative City of Music.

The UNESCO Network of Creative Cities aims to develop international cooperation between cities and communities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable development.

In 2015, Idanha-a-Nova was designated the first UNESCO Music City in Portugal as part of the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities.
