"One of the most profound experiences of playing music is the sense of union that one feels with other human beings - whether they are fellow performers or an audience. This is independent of culture, language, politics and geography in spite of the constant flow of messages to the contrary. This concert brings together four musicians from different cultures who have left their homelands and moved elsewhere, driven by the desire to make a better life.
We respect each others musical traditions, even though we do not know their depths - we are all learning from each other as we play, and we hope that experience of exploration and delight is shared with our audience. We will discover what we have in common, and what makes each of us unique, and how that is to be celebrated."
