Application
Idanha-a-Nova is preparing an application to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a city of Music to be submitted in 2015.
The Creative Cities Network was created by UNESCO in 2004 and seeks to develop international cooperation between cities that identified creative industries as a strategic factor for sustainable development. There are currently 41 member cities around the world in seven different creative industry fields:
Literature, Cinema, Music, Crafts and Folk Art, Design, Digital Arts and Gastronomy.
So far in the area of music, the members of the network are the cities of Bogotá (Colombia), Bologna (Italy), Brazzaville (Congo), Ghent (Belgium), Glasgow (UK) and Seville (Spain).
The work of preparing the application has started, particularly with the establishment of the candidature Committee, establishing contacts with other members of the Network and the survey of relevant information in the field of music.
The application is being prepared by a team of specialized consultants from the IPI Consulting Network, in cooperation with the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova.
