"The Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Almurtão, to whom the people of Idanha have a great devotion, takes place fifteen days after Easter Sunday. Hundreds of pilgrims flock to the Chapel of Our Lady of Almurtão in the woodlands outside Idanha-a-Nova to pray and fulfil promises that they have made.
Under the porch of the chapel, the folklore groups from the villages sing the good tidings in honour of Our Lady. Music and the sound of the adufe timbrels ring out in the countryside all around during the pilgrimage and the other religious celebrations."
