A reinterpretation of the instrument of José dos Reis (Monsanto, 1911-1996).

A project by Filipe Faria and Pedro Castro with master instrument builder Mário Estanislau and Vítor Félix.

The instruments which stand out among this living corpus are those which represent the tradition of a particular community or region as fundamental elements of their identity. Alongside this living set of instruments exists another which shone with equal brilliance and significance in the past; a body of instruments that remain more or less present today throughout their territory and beyond and which remain an essential part of our collective aural memory.
