" Do Ramo de Uma Árvore (From the Branch of a Tree) is a project to reinterpret José dos Reis’ five-hole palheta. Filipe Faria and Pedro Castro worked together with master instrument builders Mário Estanislau and Vítor Félix, and from the branch of a tree, a new instrument was made: the eight-hole palheta. And with this it fulfilled its destiny: music.
Throughout the entire process of constructing the eight-hole palheta, the authors witnessed the work of master instrument builders Mário Estanislau and Vítor Félix. A work of pure craftsmanship recorded by Filipe Faria on video, it is a wonderful journey that reveals all phases of the project in a conjunction of hands and words of wisdom.
