Elemental voices
This project has been created especially by Dave Boyd - bringing together inspirational contemporary interpreters of women’s song from Karelian, Corsican, Greek, Italian, and Iberian traditions - for Fora do Lugar at the invitation of the festival director, following the success of previous cultural collaborations in 2016 and 2017. International artists are invited to come together in Idanha-a-Nova to share in the creation a unique performance. This is the only occasion this group will perform together. The songs have been specially arranged in the days before the concert and some elements of the performance will be improvised. The process of rehearsals is deliberately left open so that new ideas can flourish in the exchange of musical ideas and experiences. Aella was one of the female Amazon warriors of Greek legend - her name meaning ‘whirlwind”
