Getting straight to the point, the biennial ecofestival Salva a Terra, held in Salvaterra do Extremo in the heart of the International Tagus Natural Park in the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova has suddenly been confronted with the flip side of its own essential mission: preservation.
As a very rare species of festival, in itself a creative ecosystem of diversity and considered the most ecological of festivals, it finds itself in the position of a threatened species. A radical experience of a varied nature and of survival, which forces us to find a way forward for a sustainable future recovering that which is essential.
What is essential is the function of the festival. What is essential is biodiversity. Salva a Terra is essential, ecology is essential, our festival is essential. How could you not protect your own species? Extraordinary circumstances require an extraordinary response.
The Municipality of Idanha-a-Nova acted to preserve the festival, ensuring its 2019 edition. Salva a Terra will therefore be extraordinary in various ways, with its function, energy and identity intact, co-organised by the municipality of Idanha, the Union of Parishes of Monfortinho and Salvaterra do Extremo and, last but not least, Quercus (National Association for Nature Conservation).
Concerts, cinema, walks, environmental education, conferences, dancing, street entertainment. The cause generates synergies. All profits go to the Quercus Wild Animal Recovery and Study Centres. For the preservation of biodiversity, which will always be at the heart of this festival. Salva-a-Terra- Ecofestival
