Sustainability

The Executive of the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova has made a strong commitment, since the realization of the Local Agenda 21, completed in 2008, to promote the social, economic and environmental development of the municipality.

In 2009 it published the 1st Sustainability Report with the analysis of the performance of the Municipality regarding the environment, the social support, the financial sustainability and governance and the relationship with stakeholders. In 2013 this work was continued with the preparation of the 2nd sustainability report.

Regarding the social performance, the Municipal Executive has taken a number of initiatives that have improved the day-to-day life of the inhabitants. These initiatives were directed in particular to the most needy and vulnerable.

The Environmental sustainability remains a major concern of the City.

Being held every 2 years, Boom festival has won numerous international awards in this area, thanks to the environmentally innovative solutions that introduces each year.

To promote economic development and innovation the Business Incubator and the Incubator of Rural Base were created in order to guide the acquisition of new business investment to the municipality, as well as their integration and monitoring.
